Staff Stress Measure

Part 1

The following form is designed for use in nursing homes and day programs that care for Alzheimer's patients. For persons in supervisory and staff development positions, it can be useful in developing training programs and in working individually with employees. Direct care staff have the most contact with the Alzheimer's patient; therefore, they need a better understanding of the illness, how to deal with the behavior, and how to cope with his/her behavior emotionally.

In an open and supportive learning environment these staff can be honest about their frustrations and fears. They can also be receptive to suggestions when they begin to understand that the behavior of brain-impaired individuals can be more predictable and manageable.
