1. No apparent symptoms.

2. Forgetfulness: Sometimes misplaces objects; forgets some names of people.

3. Early Confusion: Gets lost when traveling; poor work performance; forgets written materials.

4. Late Confusion: Cannot understand current new; forgets major events in personal history; makes financial mistakes; denies any problems exist.

5. Early Dementia: Forgets addresses, phone numbers, or names of close relatives; forgets the day, season, year, has trouble selecting proper clothes.

6. Middle Dementia: Forgets name of spouse, recent major events in life, many past events; unaware of surroundings becomes incontinent; has trouble sleeping; undergoes major personality changes; may become obsessive, anxious, and agitated; sometimes violent or aggressive; loses willpower; cannot concentrate on thoughts.

7. Late Dementia: Most verbal abilities and movement (walking) skills disappear; needs help eating, using toilet, bathing.
