    don't laugh at me

For some years now, I have been a collector of poetry....as you can see by all of the directories. But to be honest, since my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I have always kept an eye out for extraordinary ones....'special ones' if you will, that reflected what it was like to live in a world where you were viewed as "different".

At first, they were very hard to come by...they seemed few and far between. BUT... over these last 12 years, I have gathered quite a few.

To be truthful, I never had any intentions of putting them on the Internet. But then a song came along called "Don't Laugh At Me", and I suddenly realized that THAT song, and these words...belonged here.

SO...this area I guess, is dedicated to all of us. To our loved ones who struggle everyday to conquer a disease that is taking them away, and to all of us, who see the stares, the pointing fingers.

Maybe SOMEDAY we will live in a world that is not filled with ignorance, cruelty and prejudices.

But until that time....this will be our voice to the world..."Don't Laugh At Me"
